Food and Wine

New comers to the food and wine trail include Mathew Evans and Ross O’Meara’s’ Fat Pig Farm and Rare Food, Yondover Farmhouse Cheese, Smithton Seafoods Sensation, Gozleme Girl (Turkish with a Twist), The Dogfather, Tasmanian Gourmet Chicken, Mercure at the Park, Gryphonwood Vineyards, Marions Vineyard and Derwent Estate Wines. Coffee vendors include Two Hands Coffee Cart and Blast Off Coffee.

 

Master Classes

Festivale 2012 will feature an exciting addition to its already popular program with the introduction of a series of Master Classes, 'From Hops to Vines.'

This amazing display of what Tasmania has to offer will provide the wine and beer conscious with a fantastic selection of locally produced and grown product. Taste and talk first hand with the experts in the industry including Andrew Pirie, Piries Tasmania, Jeremy Dineen, Josef Chromy Vineyards, Corey Baker, Tamar valley Wine Route and Karina Dambergs from Clover Hill.

Harvest Launceston

Festivale and Harvest - celebrating food and wine together.

Valli Little, Food Director, Delicious Magazine will launch an exciting new Tasmanian community farmers' market, Harvest Launceston, on Saturday 11 February. Harvest Launceston brings together innovative local producers and passionate foodies at a weekly gourmet haven. Come along and celebrate local food, from epicurean to everday.

Saturday 11 February, 9am-12 Noon, then every Saturday, 9am-1pm.

Festivale Wine Awards

In 2012 Festivale has introduced the inaugural Festivale Wine Awards. The Awards are open to all wine stallholders at the 2012 event. Wines entered in the awards must be available for purchase at Festivale 2012. 

Winners will be awarded in the following classes:

• Sparkling

• Riesling

• Chardonnay

• Pinot Noir

Winners will be announced on Thursday 9 February. The Awards will be judged by Winsor Dobbin, freelance feature writer specialising in food wine and travel and James Welsh, sommelier, Stillwater and Black Cow restaurants.
