2012 Festivale Photography Prize

It only takes one magical photo!  Capture the sights and sounds of Festivale in a phototograph. The photography prize is open now and throughout the weekend of Festivale.

Remember that the subject matter even if you don’t take your photo at Festivale must feature some aspect of Tasmanian food, wine, beer or entertainment.

Photographs selected for judging will be exhibited at the Wursthaus Gallery, Quadrant Mall, Launceston. The exhibition will be open from Saturday 3 March for two weeks.

Entry is free! We encourage you to submit your entry online or you can post to PO Box 910, Launceston 7250 by Monday 20 February 2012.

Conditions of entry

1. A maximum of two images may be submitted, online or by email or mail, by each entrant.
   
   
2. The subject material must be Tasmanian and based on the theme of Festivale, i.e. 'The Essence of Festivale'. It may involve people and show aspects of the production, processing or presentation of food and/or wine together with associated entertainment and in 2012 your photograph can be taken at the event.
   
   
3. Commercially processed and author processed prints may be submitted, but the photograph must have been taken by the entrant. Any digital manipulation must have been made by the photographer, or under their personal direction.
   
   
4. Montages (multiple images in the one print) will not be accepted.
   
   
5. Digital images must be a minimum of 1024 x 768 pixels (landscape) or 768 x 1024 pixels (portrait) in size. This will require the use of 1 megapixel digital camera or greater. Digital images must be sent in jpeg format. Print submissions must be A3 or A4 in size. Prints must be sent in unmounted. All images may be in colour or monochrome (black and white). Please ensure the orientation of the image is rotated to it’s correct viewing angle. Digital images will be printed by Flying Colours.
   
   
6. If you are posting (P.O. Box 910, Launceston, 7250) your entry to Festivale please package prints for transport in a flat clear plastic folder to enable quick identification of your entry. Please note that postal entries will not be returned. We encourage you to submit your entry online through the Festivale website.
   
   
7. The title on the prints will bear the information supplied including photographer’s name, title of the image and number corresponding with the entry form. On submitted prints please ensure photographer’s name and entry title is clearly visible on reverse side of print.
   
   
8. Judges will look for First, Second and Third placings, plus a Student’s Award will be selected by an experienced panel. In addition, public votes will be invited to select a 'People’s Choice' winner. First prize is $500, Second $250 and Third prize $150. The People's Choice and Student's Award will win $100 each.
   
   
9. The decision of the selection panel will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
   
   
10. Copyright remains with the author, but permission to reproduce entries for future use by Festivale for event marketing purposes will be assumed.
    
    
11. Selected entries will be displayed at Wursthaus Gallery, Quadrant Mall, Launceston. Prints selected will be mounted in standard ivory stiff card picture mounts by expert staff.

This exhibition is conducted according to the recommended practices of the Australian Photographic Society Inc & submission of an entry implies acceptance of these conditions.
